White and grey shades of laminate flooring are the colours of choice at present, an industry body has said.
The Association of European producers of Laminate Floorings has said that these pale tones are the most favoured at present, while oak is the most popular wood type.
A fashion for light colours is also helping woods like ash and maple to "stand their ground" in the market, while beech is more popular due to designs based on the wood being given a "complete makeover".
It also noted that grey-white and green-grey are the "dominant" colours among stone-effect laminate flooring.
At the same time, the body noted that digitally designed synthetic patterns have been growing in popularity and predicted that this trend will continue through 2010.
Recently unveiled laminate products include a new range launched this month by manufacturer Express Flooring, which product director Greg Gilmartin said included some "striking designs".
