Wood flooring a part of redesigned hotel

A redesigned hotel has wood flooring as part of its decor in what is hoped to be a significant enhancement to the venue.

The material is in place alongside a number of new features at the Europe Hotel and Resort in Killarney, Republic of Ireland, hospitality Design Magazine reports.

Wood forms a significant part of the new ambience of the building, which is located next to Loch Lein, as the designers from HBA/Hersch Bedner Associates used timber in the new interior.

The floors include oak plank flooring in the Crystal Bar, while the spa has carved oak timber used downstairs and silver ash timber flooring in an upstairs area.

HBA's London director Inge Moor noted that the new design had a natural element, stating: "All the colours that you see in nature are used as accents in each room."

The use of wood flooring in opulent buildings is not new and recently the parquet floors of the Bagshawe Museum in Batley, West Yorkshire, were restored for the public to admire, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported.
