Wood flooring advice notes stiletto concerns

The Daily Mail article discussed the fashion for asking guests to remove footwear at the door and questioned whether this is a good thing.
It referred to an episode of Sex and the City where one of the characters, Carrie, has her Manolo Blahnik stilettos when she is obliged to take them off and concludes that if householders are concerned with protecting their floors they should get a doormat.
Both the issue of the damage stilettos can do and the benefits of doormats may be considered by those with wooden floors.
Having a doormat can help reduce the amount of dust getting into the house from outside and therefore onto the floor.
This will prevent the tiny particles from scratching away and doing damage to the surface.
