Wood flooring advice suggests cherry or bamboo

An expert has offered wood flooring advice to a homeowner looking to install a durable surface that will raise the value of their home.

Philadelphia Enquirer writer Al Evans told the reader wood flooring is a very popular choice for those looking to make their home more attractive and saleable.

He observed: "There's a lot of hardwood flooring - Brazilian cherry seems to be popular - in the new construction [sites] I tour as [a] real estate writer."

However, this material raises environmental concerns for some and other people will opt for bamboo or composite lumbar as an alternative, Mr Evans noted.

Bamboo is thought of as green because it can be harvested without killing the parent plant, meaning it can re-grow and supply more material in the future.

While there may be concerns about the felling of Brazilian trees, cherry is grown in other places around the world like Europe, where sustainable forestry is well established.

Suppliers of European cherry wood include Florence.

It offers cherry engineered wood flooring with a 30-year warranty.
