A kitchen flooring expert has said that wood flooring is becoming more popular than tiles.
Responding to the findings of the US National Kitchen & Bath Association that wood is becoming increasingly favoured, Marvin Daniel president of Kitchen Designworks in Henrico County, Virginia, said there has been a notable shift in tastes, the Times Dispatch reports.
Explaining the predominance of wood, he said: "You can't give anything cold away right now."
Observing that "contemporary has always meant going out on a limb a little bit", Mr Daniel suggested that traditional flooring types are very much in vogue, noting that cherry wood is also a popular material for cabinets.
Hardwood flooring is a particularly cost effective way to buy new flooring, it was argued earlier this month.
Explaining the expenditure of $9,511 (£5,902), Tammy Hawley, secretary to the mayor of Richmond, Virginia, said the use of such a floor was an "efficient investment" as it would not need as much maintenance as some other surfaces would, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
