Wood flooring recommended to homeowners who love to cook

Wood flooring is one of the best choices for those who plan to spend a lot of time in their kitchen, according to an expert.

Home design consultant Cindy Lee Bergersen, writing for Hamptons.com, offered a number of tips for homeowners hoping to make the most of the room.

She pointed to a number of choices for flooring - with vinyl, linoleum, cork and tile included in the options available.

The specialist recommended that those who are concerned about design consider going for continuity, as using the same material as other parts of the home can look good.

Householders keen on food preparation, meanwhile, could benefit from the different types of solid wood flooring.

"If you love to cook, wood floors have a little give to them and are much better to stand on than stone or tile," she said.

Rose Bennett Gilbert of the San Fernando Valley Sun recently recommended cork flooring for the kitchen, as it is comfortable, quiet and durable.
