Wood flooring still coming out on top
Despite the predictions of a boost for the carpet industry in 2011, wood floors are still the favourite of the majority of customers.
All predictions from designers and industry experts alike say that there will be a carpeting comeback, however it looks unlikely that this will displace natural wood flooring from the top spot.
Enrico Goldoni, from New Polyurethane Technologies, said: “We have noticed that there is still a strong preference for wooden floors above all else.”
While solid wood flooring will always be a popular option engineered floors are also a central part of the market in recent years.
Mr Goldoni said: “People find the extensive aesthetic possibilities very appealing. Multi-layer floors offer a huge range of choices so it’s quite possible to adapt the floor to one’s own preference.”
The fact that buyers have more than just one option in solid wood flooring means that it is easier than ever to find a wood flooring product to suit the design and installation requirements of anyone.
Although the market may be opening up for carpet again, it seems to be unlikely that wood flooring will be moved from the top spot.
