Thick wool carpets will be one of the interior design features of 2010, it has been predicted.
Sustainable trends and design magazine Laluminata.com said: "We will see the return of style with comfort, think Chesterfield wingback chairs, cosy textiles, shag-pile carpets; all creating a serene and comforting living environment."
This comment was noted by the Independent in an article that suggested being green combined with comfort will be the dominant aspects of housing design next year.
It said these characteristics will emphasise environmental concerns and the desire to escape the grim realities of the struggling economy.
A comfort-based approach like this may mean that wool carpet becomes one of the most fashionable flooring themes in the 12 months ahead.
Figures from the Confederation of British industry for November showed that the furniture and carpet retail sector had just seen successive monthly rises in sales for the first time in two years.
