Guest Stylist Charlie Davis Tranquil Bedroom
July 1st, 2020

At UK Flooring Direct’s home of inspiration we’ve invited a collection of the country’s most talented interior stylists to share their expertise with you. This time, Charlie Davis reveals her tips on how to create the ultimate tranquil bedroom using a neutral palette and soft textures.

Flooring: Flooring is fundamental to any room and immediately navigates the style and look you want to achieve. The bedroom shown in the image above is very bright and spacious, the natural light complementing the floorboards, enhancing their rich and glossy look. UK Flooring Direct offers a similar alternative to this in Series Woods Phalsbourg. Described as having a ’natural oak palette of warm golden tones’, this floor will create an authentic wood effect with a smooth and subtle finish, mixed with the added practicalities laminate flooring brings.

Bed Linen: A good quality bed linen is a must and there is an abundance of gorgeous throws and covers at the Secret Linen Store. This Smokey Blue Throw would look stunning against wooden tones.

Occasional Chairs: Chairs are a great addition to any bedroom, creating a cosy atmosphere, and adding another element of relaxation. This Bellini chair will add instant character to your bedroom, along with the hand-woven rattan Rocker Chair, both by Loaf.

Beds: Arguably the most important feature of any bedroom is the actual bed; it should be the focal point of the room and an inviting way to end your day. This sleek MALM bed frame, which comes with four underbed storage boxes, is the perfect mix of cosy and functional and will help keep clutter out of sight.

Picture Frames: Pictures bring a lovely personal touch into a room, and you can be creative with this idea by grouping frames together to form a cluster. This effect modernises any space and allows you to be experimental with different sizes and colours. IKEA stock a very eclectic picture frame range demonstrated below, starting from just £1.

Bedside Tables and Lamps: Lighting sets the mood of a room, and in a bedroom, it is ideal to have soft, warm light. This table lamp by John Lewis creates a subtle yet stylish impact.

But a stylish bedside lamp is incomplete without a complementary bedside table. Habitat do a fantastic range.

Window Dressing: There are many ways to let different amounts of light into your bedroom, from drapes to blinds to shutters. Beautiful fabrics can be used to create floor-length drapes that will look cosy yet modern.

Alternatively, shutters are a great option for enabling you to control the amount of light and privacy you receive, and these Tier on Tier shutters by California Shutters allow you to have the top or bottom half-open at separate times. California Shutters also offer a selection of full-height shutters to suit any need.
