Home Choice European Oak 180mm Lacquered Engineered Flooring is a warm and natural-looking floor with plenty of character and great practicality, with durability and ease of cleaning and maintenance built in.
The wood is a natural grade offering plenty of natural variety with lines, rings, filler and knots of varying sizes giving lots of colour variations.
It is prefinished with a durable matt lacquer which helps to keep it looking natural while also making it a lot tougher and easy to keep looking good.
Because of its strength, the floor can last up to 20 years before its 2.5 mm hardwood layer needs sanding, although this can be done up to three times. And to add to the visual impact, the planks have bevelled edges on all four sides, giving the floor greater definition.
This engineered floor is comprised of three layers of material, wear layer, core, and stabilising board. Each plank is 180 mm wide, 14 mm thick and 1100mm long.

Home Choice European Oak 180mm Lacquered Engineered Flooring Installation Guide
Engineered floors are very dimensionally stable allowing them to be installed over most types of sub floors. They are suitable for all areas of the house except bathrooms and wet areas. They are also suitable for use over under floor heating. Due to their stability they only need acclimatising for 48 hours, to correctly acclimatise your engineered floor it should be left in the room it is going to be fitted in at normal room temperature.
Home Choice European Oak 180mm Lacquered Engineered Flooring has a click installation system and can be installed as a floating floor which is the most common and DIY friendly installation method because it is the easiest and the fastest to do, can be installed over any type of subfloor and it does not require any special skills or prior experience in installing floors as the floors just clicks together with no need for any glue.
All floating flooring installations must use an approved underlay. Over a concrete subfloor you will need to use a underlay which has a built in vapour barrier like Cushion Plus White Underlay, while over a wooden subfloor you can use the Cushion Standard White Underlay. For installations over under floor heating we recommend using Cushion Heat Flow underlay. Superior underlays like Cushion Ultra Silver Underlay and Cushion Premium Black Underlay can be used to give better support to your new flooring which prolongs the life and also aids during installation by removing some minor imperfections from the sub-floor. Also for improved noise reduction we recommend the Cushion Acoustic Pro Underlay, bringing peace and quiet to the room.
Each board has a click profile on all four sides to join the boards together simply insert the tongue into the groove at a high angle and then push the board down; the boards will then click together.
You will need to leave a 10mm expansion gap around the perimeter of the room. To maintain this gap during installation spacers are provided in the installation kits (purchased separately).
After you have installed the floor you can cover this expansion gap with scotia / beading or you can replace you old skirting boards with new ones, this gives a much more professional finish. The 10mm expansion gap also needs to be left in doorways where the floor follows through from one room to another; we have a full range of door profiles available to match your floor.

In order to ensure lasting satisfaction from your new lacquered floor, it is important to correctly care for the floor starting immediately after installation. With the right care, the lacquered floor will maintain a fresh, clean new looking surface with a subtle sheen.

General After-Care Cleaning
Normal cleaning to remove surface debris is accomplished using a broom or vacuum cleaner. To remove normal stains and non-loose dirt, the floor should be cleaned with the Easy Clean Lacquered Flooring Cleaning Spray. This easy to use spray is ideal for hectic homes which need a quick cleaning solution - simply spray evenly across the floor, allow a minute to work on any stubborn marks and simply mop over. We recommend the use of the Easy Care Aluminium Micro Fibre Mop.
Cleaning Extremely Dirty Floors
If the floor has been neglected and/or becomes very dirty, it is advise to use the Easy Clean Lacquered Flooring Intensive Cleaner. Simply dilute 1 cap to 2l of warm water and apply with the Easy Care Aluminium Micro Fibre Mop. After allowing the solution to work on the dirt simply go over the area again removing the solution and the dirt from the floor - for stubborn marks repeat this process.
Refreshing Your New Floor
To keep the floor looking new it is recommended to use the Easy Clean Lacquered Flooring Refresher, this prevents dust build up, adds antistatic and anti-slip properties as well as restoring the floor to its original sheen. Prior to application it is reccomended all loose dirt is swept and removed from the surface followed by using the Easy Clean Lacquered Flooring Intensive Cleaner to ensure the refresher is applied directly to the flooring surface and not layered ontop of any stubborn dirt, ensuring the best results.
As a ready solution this is ideal to quickly refresh your flooring and to maintain that new look, this is recommended 2-3 times per year dependant on wear and foot traffic.

Once I got the hang of the click flooring (you slide in the short sides)it was fairly easy to lay. Although 2 pairs of hands where definitely required at times! The floor has a matt finish, I may of preferred slightly more sheen but this matt finish was the cheapest available at the time. It is a lovely looking floor but be warned it scratches easily.

Floor looks fantastic to start with. Its been installed in our dining, sitting room and corridors and replacing carpets. While we do not know yet how durable it is we are confident it will last for the years to come. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs a good quality floor with real wood experience. My son who is a builder says that engineered oak is more resistant to swelling and shrinkage from heat or damp than solid wood floor which is why I asked for a sample of this one. Laid in the lounge/hall and dining room. Robust and well made. \nMy only criticism is the amount of force you have to use to fit the boards end to end. Standard laminate floor fitting kits are not enough to get the boards to fully click together. I had to use a jimmy and a good deal of force to get the boards to fit. \nBuy a new saw before you start as it makes a huge difference!

The floor looks great and was easy to lay. It appears hard wearing. It does get some scuffs during everyday use but this does not really detract from the appearance. Very pleased and the price was reasonable. Delivery was on time.

I am happy with the quality of the wood. Not too difficult to assemble. Problem is the puller sold in the website. The puller is not strong enough to install the last plank in each row. The plastic block for the hammer is not strong enough either. It broke up after 16 square meter of installation.

Top marks for this product, very high quality engineered board at a superb low price. I have recently installed this product in my living room and it looks just like a real hard wood floor. I have since been back and purchased more of this product for another room. I highly recommend this floor as a alternative to the real hard wood flooring if you can't be bothered with gluing or nailing (seriously you can't tell the difference once it is fitted).
