Flooring firm falls to administration
Another flooring company in the UK has fallen in to administration as a result of the difficult economic climate faced by the flooring industry and retail in general.
The County Durham firm, New City Flooring, has appointed two administrators to go through the outstanding contracts left.
The company had been trading in Sunderland before moving premises and was first established twenty-three years ago purely working in the North.
The flooring and fitting business steadily expanded to cover areas across the whole of the UK New City Flooring also picked up several large commercial clients.
It is understood that the business may be sold if a buyer makes their interest known but the administrators are likely to have finished within the next few working days, in time for Christmas.
Unsurprisingly the difficulties faced by the firm were blamed on the harsh economic climate at the moment as many companies suffer from a decrease in sales.
Problems facing the flooring sector include the rising costs of raw materials and the lack of growth in new homes, some flooring firms continue to succeed but increasingly these are a minority.
