Head of Finance

Role summary: As the Head of Finance your role is to manage all aspects of the Financial Reporting and Management. This role will manage a team of 4 (1 finance controller plus 3 support staff) covering all aspects of financial reporting, management and control.

Management information

  • Produce monthly Management Accounts and manage the month end close process.
  • Monthly management accounts variance report – providing reports and analysis on financial performance vs budget or forecast to key management within the business. Carry out variance analysis, management review and reporting.
  • Preparation of financial reporting for management and the board.
  • Support preparation of annual budgets and forecasting.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis to meet business demand.
  • Working closely with the business to provide support.

Financial accounting and reporting

  • Statutory year end accounts.
  • Day to day liaison with auditors to ensure audits are delivered on time and with immaterial audit adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • General Ledger maintenance.

Compliance

  • Payroll production- responsible for liaising with 3rd party payroll provider and working with HR to provide accurate payroll information delivering necessary.
  • Pension and Health Insurance administration.
  • Intrastat returns.
  • Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Manage business insurance requirements and liaison with insurers and brokers.
  • Carryout analysis for renewal and support claims process.
  • Ensuring statutory returns are filed and maintain statutory records.

Treasury & Cash

  • Cashflow management – production of cash forecasts, both short term and long term. Working with business management to prepare forecasts.
  • Ensure financial KPIs and any banking covenants are monitored.
  • Management of company bank accounts and credit cards.
  • Liaising with supply chain credit providers (for import loans).
  • Overseeing purchase ledger procedures.
  • Overseeing sales ledger procedures, including sales and credit processing.
  • Overseeing all financial controls and authorisation. Identify where new or improved financial controls or processes are necessary and take action to implement changes. Ensuring all key accounts are reconciled on a regular basis and action taken to address issues arising.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with post qualification experience, ideally in a fast moving consumer business.
  • Excellent technical financial knowledge.
  • The ability to lead a team, ensuring the team have clear goals and participate in performance management.
  • The ability to provide accurate and clear information, well presented and in consideration of the audience.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage team workloads.
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Able to form strong working relationships both across the business.

FP&A Manager

Role summary: The FP&A Manager will report into the Finance Director, with responsibility to manage the planning, budgeting, and forecasting of business financial performance. The role will work alongside the Finance Business Partners (who support the Commercial and Operations teams) to deliver the annual budgets and forecasts. The role will be instrumental to developing new forecasting processes and providing insight into the short and long term business financial performance.

Key deliverables:

  • Co-ordination and consolidation of quarterly forecasts into a combined business P&L, in collaboration with Finance Business Partners.
  • Long term balance sheet and cash forecasting, to assist business investment decisions.
  • Development of rolling forecasts for the business within the business planning cycle
  • Co-ordination of annual budget process,
    • working with support functions to review overheads and other costs
    • development of robust models to collate data
    • support communication & review process, including preparation of board level presentations
  • Financial analysis & modelling for growth project activities to support business decision making. Tracking costs of key investment projects.
  • Rolling forecasts for key cost items sensitive to business growth, including wages & recruitment
  • Provision of monthly P&L outturn expectations to FD and CFO
  • Business partnering for support functions, including Digital teams
  • Ad-hoc analysis as required to support business and finance priorities

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Ability to understanding Commercial trading conditions and key business drivers
  • Will need to hold a relevant accounting qualification, ideally CIMA, ACCA or ACA
  • Ideally will have previous experience within similar industry, ideally min. 12m experience working in FP&A teams
  • Must be pro-active, can use initiative, self-starter able to deal with quick turnarounds and tight deadlines, whilst maintaining quality of work.
  • Need to be engaging, with an ability to interact with business stakeholders, and present back to them.
  • IT literate - MS office - Word, Excel (Advanced), PowerPoint, with strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to communicate and co-ordinate across business teams

Junior Finance Analyst

Role summary: The Junior Finance Analyst will report into the Commercial Finance Analyst, with responsibility to support the analysis of the trading performance of the business. The role will be responsible for the analysis and insight of sales, gross margin, understanding the drivers of performance using KPIs and analytical tools on a weekly and monthly basis. The individual will understand the drivers of margin performance, particularly the analysis of volume and rate variances.

Key deliverables:

  • To support the Commercial Finance Business Partner, providing daily, weekly and monthly performance review and analysis to the business.
  • Weekly / Monthly analysis of margin performance vs forecast, clearly articulating the volume & rate variances.
  • Report and analyse spend for the trading teams on a monthly basis, understand trends and support the accounting team to deliver accurate month end accounts.
  • Offer suggestions of how processes and reporting could be improved, and drive change where required.
  • Other ad-hoc support to the trading team and other areas of the business as required.

  • Ability to understand trading conditions and key business drivers.
  • Able to carry out detailed analysis to understand variance related to Price/Margin/Cost/Volume.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability and willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and make it happen.
