CRM Analyst

Role summary: Our aim is to help customers find their ideal floor, from browsing our website for inspiration, ordering samples to evaluate product in their home, to placing their order, receiving, and having their new floor installed.

The CRM Analyst will work closely day-to-day within the Insight Team to support marketing to design and deploy segmented, targeted customer marketing programmes and to measure their performance.

The role will benefit from sitting with, collaborating and learning from the central UK Flooring Direct Insight team, and will line managed by the Insight Director, and will be ringfenced to work solely for the Marketing Director to performance of customer marketing programmes.

This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate with a passion for data analysis to gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing ecommerce business with a strong data driven culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Generate actionable customer segments and insights to enable the marketing to increase campaign conversion and return on investment.
  • Generate and report reliable customer KPIs and lifecycle reporting.
  • Analyse performance of campaigns & promotions on regular basis to generate reliable and actionable exception reports and insights for improving performance.
  • Assist in the creation of a customer segmentation for retail customers to support marketing strategy.
  • Work alongside the Lead Customer Analyst to design marketing tests to measure and channel and campaign performance as the business diversifies marketing channels.
  • Contribute to our understanding of past performance to support the sales forecasting process and working with internal stakeholders to build a reliable forecast possible.
  • Conduct ad-hoc deep dive analysis into the performance of marketing channels, new marketing content, website experiences and customer behaviour and recommend easy in which we can improve marketing return on investment.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Above all, you will be a tenacious problem solver with a passion for quickly responding to business questions, conducting analysis and providing clear and simple insights to help business decision makers choose the right path.
  • Good understanding of retail and the key drivers of customer lifecycle and purchase behavior the role different marketing plays in the customer’s purchase journey.
  • Knowledge customer marketing approaches and technologies, e.g. email & social media, direct mail and above the line marketing and the challenges and limitations of data collection methods that underpin marketing analytics highly desirable.
  • Experience designing and evaluating marketing experiments and A/B tests is desirable.
  • A clear and concise oral and written communicator who enjoys building relationships and prides him/ herself on communicating effectively with colleagues.
  • Proficient in using Excel and/ or Google Sheets is essential.
  • Solid SQL skills and using data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau, DOMO, etc.
  • Numerate degree, or marketing or business studies with significant focus on data, measurement and statistical analysis is desirable.

Head of Insight

Role summary: The UK Flooring Direct central insight team comprises highly skilled analysts working on a range of analytical challenges from understanding the drivers of day-to-day trading performance, evaluation of marketing channels, campaigns and promotions, analysis of user journeys on our website, and deep dives into customer purchase behaviour.

We operate a matrix structure whereby analysts work alongside with senior stakeholders in Buying & Merchandising, Marketing, Ecommerce and Call Centre, CRM and Customer Personalisation teams to ensure deep business expertise and a collaborative approach toward delivering shared commercial goals. The Head of Insight will ensure the highest quality of output from the central insight team on behalf of senior stakeholders and will have direct responsibility for hiring, coaching and developing the team in-line with the current and future needs of the business.

You will work closely with the Insight Director, CDO and senior business stakeholders to define and deliver a roadmap of insight projects alongside the day-to-day to ensure UK Flooring Direct are well placed to take advantage of emerging trends & technologies as well as analytical best practices.

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of our customers, our business and our data, enabling the Insight team to reliably inform stakeholder decision making across the business.
  • Deliver an insight backlog of analytical items consisting of both questions asked by senior stakeholders and areas of analysis proactively identified by the Insight team to achieve shared commercial goals.
  • Conduct ad-hoc deep dive analysis into the performance of marketing channel performance, new marketing content, website experiences and customer behaviour and recommend ways in which we can improve performance to support day-to-day and strategic decision making.
  • Identify and quantify UX opportunities, assist in the experiment design and delivery of an A/B testing roadmap and measurement framework, and provide statistical analysis of results to continually improve website performance.
  • Oversee the implementation of all website tracking and testing technologies, including Google Analytics and GTM, Monetate, survey tools, etc, to ensure all data capture is sufficiently detailed, accurate and reliable.
  • Work closely with marketing and external partners to understand how marketing campaigns & tactics and product range decisions have been reflected in, and impacted website performance.
  • Regularly poll customers using ad-hoc surveys and other research techniques to enhance understanding motivations, attitudes and behaviours.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrable experience in senior analytical roles with direct line management of a multi-disciplinary analytical team. Ideally gained in a retail, ecommerce or consumer facing business.
  • A clear and concise communicator who enjoys building relationships, takes prides in collaborating effectively with colleagues, and is accustomed to working closely with and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience using a range of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and blending information from multiple sources to deliver clear, actionable insight across a range of functional areas.
  • A tenacious problem solver with a passion for quickly responding to business questions, defining and leading multiple threads of analysis and providing clear and simple insights to help business decision makers choose the right path.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of website/ ecommerce and digital marketing technologies and the opportunities and limitations of data collection methods that underpin these areas.
  • Experience managing directly or overseeing the delivery web analytics implementation projects and using web analytics reports, data and insights (Google Analytics or similar).
  • Highly proficient in use of SQL, Excel/ Google Sheets, and data visualisation and reporting tools (Tableau, Looker) for data analysis.
  • Experience using Python or R for data analysis is highly desirable, an understanding of how these are used is essential. This role will be a mix of hands-on analysis, leading and coaching analysts working with, primarily, SQL, Python and R.

Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

Role summary: The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will support the Head of BI and Data Engineering in the design, build and iterative improvement of UK Flooring Direct’s reporting and self-serve analytics platform to meet the needs to of decision makers across the business, including but not limited to board reporting, digital marketing and trade performance, buying and merchandising, call centre, stock management, logistics and operations.

We have recently launched our new reporting platform in Looker and have an exciting roadmap of introducing new data sets to generate a customer centric view, improved business logic to drive & reporting insight, and sweating the data in new ways to generate insights that drive our ambitious plans for growth.

The role holder will be the go-to person for the modelling of new datasets, both on a physical and logical level, and dashboard and report development, as well as providing coaching and guidance to fellow members of the team around best practice and approach. Under guidance and with support from the Head of BI and Data Engineering, you will design, constantly review, and, where necessary, refactor the platform to draw data from our central data warehouse, ensuring a single source of truth across all core business reports, with consistent business logic, as well as delivering new reporting requirements to stakeholders.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced BI Engineer/Developer/Data Modeller, that is looking to use market leading technology, as well as someone looking to progress into a career in Data Engineering.

The role holder will also work alongside the Insight Director, the insight team and other business stakeholders to translate business requirements into simple and effective reports.

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our data and business logic, and with support from the Head of BI and Data Engineering, maintain and evolve our dashboard and reporting platform, in line with the needs and requirements of the business.
  • Take the lead in designing and developing our logical data layer within Looker, to ensure consistent and robust information is available to business at all times.
  • Provide coaching to junior members of the team where necessary, acting as the go to person around best practice.
  • Develop and manage new data structures, metrics and reports to provide insight and reporting required to run the business.
  • Provide the critical role of reconciliation and testing of new data sets, structures and reports to ensure the team has a consistently high-quality output, as well as maintaining consistency with existing work.
  • Take ownership of and be the go-to person for iterative development of our dashboard and reporting tool, Looker, developing new metrics, charts and dashboards as required by business stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all logic and modelling within Looker is documented and is consistent across the platform.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A passion for data technologies combined with a focus on business outcomes and understanding of the importance of accurate and reliable reporting and insight.
  • A strong knowledge of database technologies, data integration methods and reporting tools.
  • A strong grasp of Business Intelligence techniques, e.g., data modelling, ETL/ ELT, reporting and dashboard design.
  • A strong understanding of OLAP data modelling, its benefits and use cases.
  • Business analysis skills; the ability to translate business requests for information into clear and actionable requirements for data and reporting.
  • A strong knowledge of SQL, with demonstratable practical application.
  • Strong experience of at least one BI reporting tool, e.g. Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Google Data Studio, etc.
  • Strong experience working with a logical data layer using tools similar to Looker, Power BI, IBM Cognos, SAP BO etc.
  • Broad understanding of different types of business data from digital marketing and analytics, ERP, call centre operations, logistics and supply chain.
  • Experience working in retail and ecommerce business highly advantageous.
  • Hands on experience building data capability within either Google Cloud Platform, MS Azure or Amazon Cloud preferable.
  • Experience with Python or similar languages would be of benefit.
