Role Purpose:

As a Buyer you will be responsible for managing and building relationships with current and new suppliers, bringing to market new ranges through negotiating and effective product management. You will support bringing to life the Buying strategy using your commercial awareness and your ability to maximise trading performance in line with category KPI’s. You will be highly organised, able to interpret data to make effective trading decisions and understand your market through regularly reviewing and assessing our competitors and learning what our customers want. You will also ensure all systems and data references associated with product management are adhered to and maintained to a high standard, combined with good interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with other functions within UK Flooring Direct.

Key Deliverables:

  • Manage and maintain the category range plan, ensuring all data is up to date and accurate.
  • Own the new product set up process, working cross functionally to bring new lines to market.
  • Bringing to market new ranges from current and new suppliers, through effective negotiation and taking ownership of launching new products in line with operational requirements.
  • Working closely with our supplier base, building relationships accordingly and networking to be able to open new opportunities for UK Flooring Direct.
  • Understand and partner our supply chain team to facilitate our range and logistics requirements.
  • Ensure that you are maximising sales by having the correct product information and creative assets, managing them to market ensuring they are represented to true affect at any point of sale.
  • Identify opportunities in the market and recognise gaps in the UK Flooring Direct range, communicating proactively your thoughts and demonstrating your passion for product.
  • Recommend internal process improvements, be a voice for change and new ideas.
  • Working with the supply chain team to ensure that “end product” meets quality standards and the customer requirements set out by UK Flooring Direct to continue to take a leading position in the market.
  • Support your colleagues to meet their departmental goals.
  • Focus on effective KPI’s and monitor and evaluate these metrics to measure the efficiency of activity in relation to the business plan.

  • Product Management – Experience managing ranges and bring new product to market.
  • Supplier Management – Managing Suppliers is second nature to you, you build effective relationships and can demonstrate how you influence to get what you need.
  • Organisational Skills – Demonstrate that multi-tasking and delivering to deadlines is one or your strengths.
  • Proactive Communication - Be confident in your communication, being clear and concise.
  • Attention to detail - Be accurate! You need to be your biggest critic, always ensure that the data is correct.

Assistant Buyer

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Buyer is an integral part of the Buying function at UK Flooring Direct. They facilitate and bring to life the Buying strategy through attention to detail, ensuring all systems and data references associated with product management are adhered to and maintain to a high standard. Organisation, and high attention to detail are important combined with good interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with other functions within UK Flooring Direct and our suppliers.

Reporting to: Buying Director
