Your choice of kitchen flooring needs to be a hard wearing, practical and easy to look after finish that still looks fabulous. Our experts have a range of kitchen flooring ideas to ensure you create the home you deserve.

We often recommend laminate or vinyl as the best flooring for a kitchen. They’re busy places that also have to cope with changes to heat and moisture levels, and as such, the modern vinyl and laminate floors are perfectly placed to deal with anything that can be thrown (or spilled!) at them.

Combining the realistic looks and finishes of wood or tiled flooring, but with none of the drawbacks. They both also work with underfloor heating for those cold winter mornings. What’s not to love?

Kitchen Flooring FAQ

Can I use engineered wood floors in my kitchen?

You can use engineered wood flooring in a kitchen, but that doesn’t mean you should. Being made of real wood, they are susceptible to changes in heat and humidity, which are both very common in kitchens. As a significant investment, the last thing you want is for your expensive new floor to warp or bow!

Do you put flooring under kitchen cabinets?

It depends. Usually, we recommend installing your cabinets before your choice of flooring. Heavy cabinets can damage wood, laminate or vinyl floors. You also have the added bonus of not needing as much flooring!

Can I use herringbone flooring in my kitchen?

Yes! Herringbone laminate or vinyl flooring are great choices for your kitchen. The timeless style, which is sometimes known as parquet kitchen flooring, makes a real statement in your home and works well with a range of decor styles.
