Grey your way

The ‘perfect neutral’, there are many ways you can make it your own. Whether you choose to incorporate grey into your home with your furnishings, your wallpaper or your floor, there are so many ways to make it work for you and reflect your personal style.

What rooms does grey flooring look best in?

Thanks to its versatility, grey flooring looks best in any room you wish – you could opt for a stylish grey laminate in your hallway or a waterproof grey vinyl in your bathroom. The choice really is all yours.

With shades from charcoal right through to tones of silver, grey is a hugely versatile hue. Adding depth and interest, the colour can be introduced to any existing scheme.

As grey flooring typically adds a light and airy feeling to a room, it has space enhancing properties which make it the perfect addition for rooms of all sizes, so you’ll never be limited.

No matter your personal style, grey is a complementary shade with a vast range of interior décors. If you’d prefer a different coloured flooring you could always incorporate it with grey walls, whether that be a block colour, a feature wall or an interesting wallpaper, there are so many ways you can inject some grey into your home.

What colours go with grey flooring?

As grey flooring is wonderfully neutral, it seamlessly matches with a wide range of colour palettes. Our Interior Designer here at UK Flooring Direct, Naomi Nunn has come up with a handful of mood boards, showcasing how she sees grey best working. Grey and yellow

Here the combination of rich warm yellow/mustard shades with soft cool greys, paired with the monochromatic geometric details wonderfully offset each other. A Herringbone floor would be a stunning addition as the pattern ties the whole look together.

Layering of fabrics and textures soften the geometrics whilst still bringing in the bold beautiful contrast of these colours together.

We’ve used a warm mustard yellow, but this would equally work with other yellows, why not embrace the Pantone Colour of the Year: Illuminating so your home will be bang on trend.

Grey and earthy tones

Natural, earthy tones are everywhere at the moment, and it’s easy to see why – it’s the perfect combination for bringing the outside in and creating a relaxed, peaceful environment.

Incorporating a strong balanced grey – reminiscent of concrete, mixed with green tones, natural wickers, blonde woods and plenty of plants make for a calming and zen environment. This is perfect for those areas of your home you envision to be your haven, perhaps your living room or your bedroom.

Grey and Pink

Think luxury fabrics, velvets, faux fur, layering of textures, light wood and gold accents. A dusty pink colour is comforting, romantic and easy to use with greys. This makes it great to create a cosy bedroom environment.
